Stag Beetle
The Colophon Stag Beetle is also called the Pinching Bug. The mandibles are greatly developed in the male, resembling the antlers of a stag, and may grow as long as the beetle itself. Endemic to high altitude mountains of South Africa’s Western Cape. There are 17 identified species, each restricted to its own mountain range or peak.
